Naive Introspection in the Philosophy of Perception

Abstract In this paper I critically examine uses of introspection in present-day philosophy perception. First, introduce a distinction between two different meanings the term ‘introspection’: introspective access and method. show that they are both at work perception but not adequately distinguished. then lay out some concerns about use to collect data consciousness were raised over hundred years ago, by early experimentalist psychologists, part so-called ‘Introspectionist Psychology’. As argue, these apply current philosophical acknowledged, much less addressed. explain applying result, extant arguments relying on introspection-based phenomenal descriptions methodologically problematic. These problems do call into question theorising altogether. But we need take more care how it.
